Reminder for GRADS # 3

Reminder # 3 is The C in the CODES Belief System stands for CONTROL.

In class we discussed the beliefs that make some people collision free drivers as opposed to beliefs that cause others to be accident prone.

The first of these five beliefs is CONTROL. This belief causes a strong desire to take responsibility for being in control of ones vehicle, ones self and even other drivers on the road. Such a belief sees the necessity to be in control for collision free driving in spite of the road or weather conditions and the incorrect actions of others.

An example of vehicle control is taking pride in the accurate maneuvering of your car in accordance with the laws and rules of the road. Remember how you were taught to have precise pivot point control at all times and obey all traffic laws.

An example of control of self refers to controlling ones emotions to avoid distractions such as anger, inattention or over concentration on only one part of the traffic scene. Remember how you were taught to scan the traffic scene by constant eye movement.

An example of control of other drivers is how you will increase your following distance ahead when the driver behind follows too closely. Remember how you can use this extra space ahead to make a prolonged stop controlling the tailgater behind.

Take pride in that you drive with control no matter how others drive. Your goal is 100% control 100% of the time. Thanks for doing your part to make our highways safer for everybody.

Thanks for learning with Capitol Driving School and keep yourself safe.
